Prepping for Competition

Hello friends!! How’s your thursday going?? I am sorry for being MIA yesterday, between work and competition prep, I never made it to the computer!! The horror, I know! I am thrilled that you all loved my new competition dress!!! I am obsessed with it, and it mean the world that you loved it too!

Today I wanted to talk about competition prep. I know a lot of you have watched Dancing with the Stars and see all the crazy outfits, hair, and makeup. Well as much as a competition is very different than DWTS, when it comes to appearance it’s pretty much the same! So let’s get to it! The week of the competition is crucial and looks a little like this:

  1. First thing I have to do is get my eyebrows done. This is serious business, you’re hair is slicked back and your face better be perfect!! Not to mention stray eye brow hair drives me INSANE!
  2. I throw in a couple extra dance lessons. You really need to be ready to get on the dance floor and practicing your routines over and over again is a way to get there.
  3. SPRAY TAN! Remember when I went spray tanning for my last competition?? This will actually be happening today. It’s the best when you finish and see yourself in the mirror and don’t know who you are. HAHA
  4. The day before (tomorrow) I will be getting my nails and toes done and then taking my final dance lesson!! This is crunch time baby!

This is all just preparation for the big day!! I can’t believe I’m competing on saturday!! TWO DAYS AWAY! If you want to know more about the competition I’m doing you can check it out here!

Remember when I got that awesome package from Chobani?? Well when I moved in with my cousin Sara, I found out she was eating Fage greek yogurt. I told her she had to try Chobani, so she did and she’s hooked!! I told her that Lemon is the best flavor but we still haven’t been able to find it!

Moving on to some eats…..

Taco bowl!! This baby had carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, meatless meatballs, brown rice, black beans, and salsa!! It was amazing.

Tuna Sashimi! YUM

Salad monster: Beets, garbanzo beans, and gorgonzola!

Look how big my salad monsters are!!

This morning was a smoothie and coffee!! Look at my new travel coffee mug!!

If you are looking at the travel mug for my smoothie…..look no further!

I bought the Hamilton Single Serve blender from Target yesterday!! It’s not amazing but I like that you can just make you’re smoothie and go! Less clean up time!!

That’s all for now!

Have you ever tried the single serve blenders??

Are you a competitive person??

Don’t forget that when I get to 150 followers on twitter I will be having an awesome giveaway!!! Follow me HERE!

New Competition Dress

Hey there!!! First of all, my cousin wanted to thank you for all the birthday wishes!!! She really appreciated it. How is your day going?? I’m at work now, but last night I got my new competition dress!!!! If you don’t remember what my old one looked like you can check out my recap from my last dance competition! So without further ado….

The back!

I had this dress made for me and it came out PERFECT!!! It’s always nerve wracking getting a dress made for you, but it turned out amazing!!

Look at the detail on the skirt and belt!! I am beyond happy with this dress!! I still can’t believe my competition is on Saturday!!!! Wish me luck??

Moving on…..

My breakfast this morning was to die for. If you don’t know already, my food gets me very excited!!

Egg white, goat cheese, avocado omelet!

Do easy, delicious, and filling! If you haven’t figured it out yet, you may realize I DON’T post a lot of complicated recipes, my eats are always fast, easy, and pretty healthy! It’s just how I roll.

I also went to his new bagel shop one of my customers told me about for some iced coffee!! I’m obviously a coffee addict, so when she told me they used REAL iced coffee cubes, I was in!

I got the roasted hazelnut iced coffee. The real iced coffee cubes are genius, the coffee never gets watered down!

If there is one of these places near you, I suggest you go get your hands on the iced coffee.

I’m not a big fan of frozen meals, especially Lean Cuisine. But there is one that I can’t resist because I love it so much. It would be the tortilla crusted fish. I know it’s full of “fake” food, but it’s delish and I will eat it if I’m being lazy and I want it!

I had to obv eat it with some fruit to feel a little better 🙂

POM seeds! Lurveeeee!

After work I will be heading home and pumping out a treadmill/elliptical sesh in our little gym!! Can’t wait to get my shweat on!

Is there any frozen meals you can’t live without??

Best omelet you’ve ever had??

PS. Did you notice that the little bloggy got a facelift?? New header, new theme. You like?

PSS. If you aren’t following me on twitter, you may want to because when I get to 150 followers, I will be hosting a giveaway!!

Weekend Recap & Happy Birthday Sis/Cousin

Hola!! Happy late Easter/Passover or whatever you celebrated!!! I missed you all this weekend, but you know I was still stalking your blogs! ;). So instead of blabbering lets recap, because there is a lot!!!

Friday I was off work!! I had a dance lesson and then I went to lunch with my Mama. I danced again at night, then went to karaoke after dance with my friend Lauren. I love karaoke, do you??

After a morning elliptical sesh, I was craving cereal!! Enter Kashi Go lean Crunch and almond milk!! Hit the spot!

For lunch we went to the little cafe in Saks Fifth Avenue!! It’s one of my favorite lunch spots in Beverly Hills!

They start by serving you these warm flat breaks with a olive spread. SO GOOD!

I went with a salad…

So delicious!! Hungry Dancer health tip: Always order dressing on the side to avoid tons of excess calories!! I like to do the dip and eat. Dip the fork in the dressing then go for the salad! This saves you tons of extra fat and calories!

Dinner ended up being an easy peasy wrap!

La tortilla factory tortilla, goat cheese, romaine, meatless meatballs, and salsa!! Hit-the-spot!

If you didn’t already know, I work EVERY saturday! No joke. So of course it was a work day. Let’s just skip the day and move on to night time!! I stopped by my fav store Trader Joe’s after work for some essentials and ended up with this creation for dinner.

Gnocchi with feta and brussels sprouts!! My best friend Jamie came over so I cooked this for her two! She gave it two thumbs up!!

We followed dinner with a dip in the HOT TUB then a trip to get yogurt!!

YOGURT LAND!! I might have went a little wild on the yogurt!! Look at all those toppings!!

I always think of one of my favorite bloggers Janae, because she LOVES Yogurtland!

We don’t really celebrate easter in the Hungry Dancer household but we did have a celebration because it was my cousin Sara’s 23rd birthday!!!

Her real birthday is actually today, Monday the 25th!! Happy birthday Cousin!!!

To celebrate, we obviously had TONS of food!! Look at these snacks!!

Cheese and crackers, hummus and dippers, sushi!!

Chips and guac, crackers and crab salad, Ruffles and sour cream and onion dip!! Let’s just say I was a full dancer yesterday!! HAHA

For our dinner it was hotdog and hamburger style! My cousin had requested Chicago Style hot dogs, and since I am NOT a fan of hot dogs, I went with a turkey burger!

Hungry Dancer tip #2: If you have a fluffy bun, scoop out the inside of the bread to save some calories! I had a turkey burger with lettuce, tomato, and onion! Don’t fret I added more….

Guacamole!! It was perfect!!

Then it was time for Sara to blow out the candles!!

Sara has been obsessed with ice cream cake since she was a little girl, so that’s obviously what we had!!

My slice of mint chip ice cream cake! Yummerz!

Speaking of the Birthday Girl…...

Sara and I grew up like sisters. We are both only children and our moms are best friends!! We did everything together for our entire childhood!! I feel so lucky to have her in my life as a cousin, but even more as a sister! We both know that no matter what happens we will always be there for each other and have each others back! There is nothing more important in life than family.

Happy 23rd Birthday!! I love you sooo much!!!

Did you celebrate Easter or Passover??

Do you have family members that are like siblings??

PS 5 days till my dance competition!!! Getting my new dress tonight, pictures coming soon!!

Veggie Corn Dogs

Hey there!! How was your thursday??? Mine was actually pretty productive. I love days when you feel like you get everything done you needed to do. I have still not been able to transition into morning workouts, but loved hearing your motivation tips in the comment section! I am doing a morning workout tomorrow and hoping it will become a habit! 🙂

I went down to the fitness center in our complex for some cardio!! I got on the elliptical for a 25 min ultra fat blast program on the machine. When I am feeling lazy I like to just use some of the workouts on the machine and up the level. Let me tell you, I was shweaty! I followed it with a quick weight circuit and a cool down mile on the treadmill. Let me tell you, I did NOT feel like working out but after I was done I felt amazing!!

Perfect 10 bagel with White Chocolate Wonderful and chia seeds. This may look familiar ;-).

Sometimes when I’m rushing to work I go with the frozen food….

This was a healthy choice meal and it was actually really tasty!! I enjoyed it!

I helped the time go by at work by reading a few magazines..

IMG_0766.jpg IMG_0765.jpg

I am a magazine addict among other things.

I also snacked on a JUICE!

and some seaweed snacks!

These are AMAZING! Best seaweed snacks I’ve had yet.

Green tea flavor, who would have thought??

After my sheaty gym session, I was starving for dinner!! I decided to cook up some veggie corn dogs and roasted veggies for me and the cousin!

Pre bake!

This was my plate! It was delicious!! These are the best fake corn dogs EVER!

I know these are fake food….but they are worth it! SO GOOD!

I’m currently sipping my nightly tea. My cousin and I have a nightly ritual of drinking tea before bed. We do it EVERY night.

Our fun tea mugs! Instead of tshirt time (a la Jersey Shore) We have TEA time!!

Do you have any nightly rituals??

Do you ever use the workout programs on the cardio machines??

***The Hungry Dance is now on Facebook!! Please like the page!! If I get enough likes there might be a special treat!! 🙂

Best Salad

Hey hey hey!!! Happy hump day! Today has been a day filled with lots of work. This girl has to bring home the dough!

Last night I may have made the most delicious salad I have ever had…..seriously it was beyond easy, and crazy delicious! I got home from work and did a quick 3 miles on the dreadmill, then it was time for me to cook!!

Since I had gone to the grocery store recently, I knew exactly what I wanted!! I started by cooking this Trader Joe’s seafood blend. (I’m obsessed with this BTW!)

All I did was heat it on the pan with some olive oil spray, garlic salt, and paprika! These on their own are incredible…

Next I cut up two stock of romaine (I imagine you could use any lettuce you like, this was just what I had.)

The star of the show…….I added crumbled GOAT CHEESE!!!! IMG_0756.JPG

Then topped it with some light balsamic vinaigrette. That was it!! I ate this bowl x2

Interesting fact. When I mentioned moving…..I didn’t tell you that I moved in with my COUSIN! I have been staying in her place for a while now and its awesome!! We are having a blast!! I made this salad for both of us and she said. “I could eat this salad everyday” Literally, that good! Goat cheese makes everything better.

This morning I started off my day with a green juice! I also set my alarm an hour earlier to get in a morning workout……didn’t happen. I am way too close with the snooze button. I hope I will be able to change this habit soon!

Sorry I used the flash! I was rushing to work and shooting this pic in the elevator! Green juice and string cheese, perfection! I am LOVING the juices from this place! So delicious!!!

I obviously had to continue my love of goat cheese for lunch..

  • Broccoli & Cabbage slaw
  • black beans

This wasn’t as amazing as my salad last night, but it was pretty darn tasty!

I also had to drink another juice….obsessed much??

This was AH-MAZ-ING! No joke, phenomenal! You need to try this juicery if you are ever in the LA area!! Actually, if you’re ever in the LA are we will have a play date and go drink lots of juice!!

Tonight I am going to my parents house to remake the salad I made last night!! I have to make it for my momma!! After dinner I will be dancing!! Can’t wait!!

What’s your “best salad”???

What motivates you to wake up before work/school and workout??

Meatless meatballs and Hummus

Hello lovers!!! How’s your tuesday treating you?? I was excited to hear all the races you are signed up to do! SO FUN! My day has been pretty uneventful thus far, what can you do?? Lets move on to some eats!!

Last nights Dinner

Last night I did something interesting for dinner. Sometimes I get lazy when it comes to making dinner after work, and go towards the frozen route. For me, frozen meals are NOT filling! I like to try and “beef up” my frozen meals. This is exactly what I did last night! I took a Smart One’s baked pasta dish and ate it over a huge bowl of sauteed spinach!!

If you didn’t know by now, I’m OBSESSED with spinach!! Nothing better than throwing it in a pan with a little olive oil and seasoning, and being very happy! This made my frozen meal SO FILLING!!

Close up?

Look at tha cheesey spinachy goodness! Lazy girls dinner to the max!

I finally went to the grocery store after what feels like forever!! I needed so many things!! I was happy to get my hands on my favorite bagels! Remember the perfect 10 bagels I told you about??

So unfortunately after buying everything at the market…I forgot bananas!! So this bagel ended up just being topped with WCW and Chia seeds!! I missed my WCW!

You might be noticing a really classy trend here on Hungry Dancer….eating off paper towels! Sometimes it’s just how I do it! Best combo EVER!

Trader Joe’s meatless meatballs and hummus. This was heaven! I highly suggest you all try it ASAP!

I also can’t get enough of seaweed snacks!!!

These are so addicting!!! Seriously part, bought in bulk at Costco!

I was also excited because my juices arrived!!!

My little collection to try.

I had to try one right away, obvs.
AH-MAZ-ING. No really, it’s that good!!

Can’t go wrong with extra ginger. I can’t wait to try out all the other kinds I got!

I’m planning to conquer a dredmill sesh when i get home from work. Wish me luck!!

What workout did you do today??

Do you workout before work or after??

She runs LA & Pressed Juicery

We grew up like sisters and I still consider her to be like my sister!  We did some fun barhopping, but no fun pictures to share..because I was too busy partying!!! Since I tried to give up cocktails a few weeks back, I have been pretty good….but this night I had a little too much fun!! Many vodka soda’s later, I was kicking myself for it the next day!

On to some weekend eats!!

Yes, I ate off a paper towel....

Boca chicken nuggets with ketchup!! Sometimes one craves comfort food…enter these fake nuggets.  Not the most nutritional, but beyond tasty!!

Salmon bowl!

Froyo has been missing from my life for WAY to long!!! I had to fulfill the craving! Hey, it was the weekend!! In the mix was mint yogurt, heath bar, oreo bits, and granola! It was amazing!! I’m obsessed with mint yogurt!
So for the past week I feel like I’ve been battling some kind of cold that keeps coming and going.  Not sure what to do about it, I have decided to just buy a ton of juice and hope it heals me!! I have heard so many great things about Pressed Juicery so I decided to buy a package from them!  That great thing is you can get 12, 32, 64 juices etc, and they are delivered straight to your door! I went with the 12 package since I had never tried their juices before! You can have them delivered when you want, how you want! I decided to get 5 delivered to start.  They will be arriving tomorrow and I’m so excited to try them!!
